The Halo community outreach project improves the quality of life for one of the most vulnerable populations in our community.
Each year, California Families in Focus (CFF) identify and meet the needs of homebound sick and older adults in the Long Beach area. Volunteers and interns contribute hundreds of community service hours by preparing food, organizing medication, shopping, reading, and driving them to appointments. CFF offers donations of clothing and personal hygiene products and will personally delivers the needed items.

If meeting those needs wasn’t impactful enough, volunteers help the older adults connect with their loved ones and friends through technology. The CFF volunteers set-up their electronic devices and social media platforms cutting down on the social isolation that can be devastating to an older adult’s health and wellbeing.
Some of our volunteers are certified through the IHSS (In Home Supportive Services) program funded through the State of California department of Social Services. If the older adult or disabled person is also registered as a recipient, our volunteers who are registered as providers can be paid.
Spa & Self-Care Day
Who doesn’t love a makeover?! Our interns and volunteers coordinate Spa and Self Care day as a morale boost to the homebound individuals. Our talented volunteers offer an array of beauty boosts including a haircut and style, makeup application, manicure and/or pedicure, and help styling outfits. Look good, feel better!
CFF provides these services free of charge but the real gifts of the Halo Project are priceless! A visit, companionship and lots of love from the CFF family.
When the time comes, the Halo Project also assists with funeral arrangements and refers the survivors to New Hope Grief Support for counseling support.
